Night Train

I think that Night Train was first recorded in 1952 by Jimmy Forrest Jr. but the opening riff was recorded in 1940 by Johnny Hodges (a Duke Ellington sideman) under the title “That’s The Blues, Old Man”. My two versions below, are based on one by James Brown – the second being played with slightly more attack and vigour and a couple of extra improvs thrown in.
